Getting together

Hey guys,
I thought it might be fun if we go out to talk more about the projects/show. Maybe after class, especially for the PR team cause we need to get together. It would be cool to meet up at a bar or something and this would also be a good way to get to know each other better. The whole class is welcome.
I am usually free after class and would be willing to go then maybe from 8:30-10. or else I am also free thurs nights (after 9 but w/o a ride though) and the whole weekend. We could car pool (my ride could fit another 2-3 people).
Anyone interested in going out to a bar or restaurant? Perhaps this wednesday or next? And if it goes well maybe it could be a regular thing.

just an idea

VJ session at Eyebeam Feb 23rd.

Is anyone interested in going into the city on Saturday night to check out VJ session at Eyebeam?

Plus, they are sponsered by New Castle Brown Ale, the beat ale in opinion. ;-) Just another reason.

Lectures on the 27th and the 5th

Folks:

We've got two lectures coming up which should be of great interest to all:

February 27 at 6:30pm in Visual Arts Perception Lab, Room 1016
Rainer Ganahl
http://www.ganahl.info/

and the following week:
Torsten Zenas Burns
Wednesday, March, 5, 6:30 pm @ the Neuberger Museum
URL: http://holyokeresearch.blogspot.com

Of course, attending visiting artist lectures is not our sole raison d'etre. Let's plan on meeting after the lectures, perhaps in a more informal setting, to discuss where we are going and how we intend to get there. Tempus Fugit!!!

Best,

Jon

happy valentines day

So I'm having a great valentines day sitting in front of a computer... and I came across some stuff I thought I'd pass on...

http://lumenlab.com/

This seems like a pretty sick company for building your own projector and they have some section for 3d virtual reality which looked promising but is merely coming soon.

also: check out these folk's guerilla projector! nice. The third piece is pretty awesome too.

Oh yeah, also I thought Sam's cube cell program was wicked and reckon it would make an awesome graphic for a poster as well.

other name ideas to throw into this rowdy discussion here:

Hope ya'll are having as much fun as I am!

Poster Idea/ Show Title/ Video help available

Hola amigos y amigas!
Just throwing ideas out:
So I wanted to do a rough sketch of an idea based on our discussion last week. Two images people came up which were an electronic flower and using LEDs in the poster. The idea with this poster is that the sun has some LED's in it and maybe the flower would too. The area where the on/off switch is meant to look like behind the sheet rock of a wall with beams and wires exposed etc. We could off course use a real on/off switch but that might be expensive. Anywho, just wanted to get the ball rolling.

As far as titles, I guess I'm honestly not too crazy about having evolution in the title. I think the word is used A LOT these days. How about, "Turn On" , "Push the Button" , "Flip the Switch" , "BlackOut" ...These are ideas that would go well with the poster I guess.

Also, if anyone needs any help with a video shoot I'd be happy to help. I'll probably need some help too at some point so don't be afraid to ask.
OK, see ya at future farmers...

Does anyone know anything about VJing/VJ programs

Carrie suggested using a VJ program, does anyone know anything about vjing or vj programs. Here is a description of what I need to do.

My project consists of recording someone live through a webcam while keying their background out and interlacing that recording with pre-recorded videos. Then I would like to display the last 4 ‘interlaced’ videos. All of which should be fairly automatic. So anyone have any idea.
The program would definitely need to be able to do realtime keying.

Thanks everyone,

Ness

database!

Hey everyone I need help creating a database. I need it be able to accept and save forms and pull them back out at random. The forms are pretty much built. I am making a lable maker project, that will be displayed in the museum. It is set up so that when it opens it provides images of the art pieces on display to click on. When you click on one you go to a form with editable text boxes stating the title, artist, and the label I had to write for the museum, next to the image. The idea is that you can edit my labels and submit it and then look at other people's edited labels.
Database experience anyone?
